Sport Events Montréal (SEM) is a specialized team within Tourisme Montréal that assumes a leadership role in attracting new sports events and promoting the destination in this market. SEM collaborates with a vast network of sports stakeholders and provides customized solutions to ensure that every sporting event in Montréal is a memorable one.
The hosting program for national and international sporting events aims to support sports federations and promoters in the organization of events, generate business opportunities for the industry and increase the attractiveness of the destination.

National and international sporting events
A sports event is a professional or amateur gathering of people around a sanctioned or unsanctioned sporting competition.
- A world series or a world cup
- A world championship
- A Pan-American championship
- A single-sport university competition
- An open or invitational international championship
- A national championship
- A professional sports championship
- A multi-sport event
Sports conventions and annual meetings
Business events that bring together players in the local sports market or in the sports markets of other destinations, sports federations and other organizations involved in sporting events.
- A congress bringing together representatives of the Olympic movement
- An annual sports federation convention
Bid support
For events engaged in a bidding process that must be validated by the relevant Canadian or international federation. The rights to present the event must not have been awarded prior to submission of the application for assistance.
